I dunno about most people but every so often I think the same old gym routine gets boring. I hung up a heavy bag in my basement and started to box. I love it!!! Im no expert but it feels wonderful and Im dripping sweat afterwards. It feels like Im working different muscles too. I hop around and punch my ass off in 3-6, 3 minute sets. I’ll tell ya…those boxers have to be in unbelievable shape! Just jumping around punching tires me out…imagine if you were in the ring getting hit in the face/body at the same time! Anyway…swimming is also a great way to change it up. I like to try and swim 3 times a week and hit the bag even more. For me this makes my overall body transformation less of a routine and gets me more fresh and excited to think about and do.
Till next time

After a rough month and brief sabbatical, I’ve started to wake up and smell the roses. No matter how many miles you run or how many weights you lift, Ive found the key and most important thing to giving yourself a better body and a happier life is to get your head straight. You have to make the decision mentally that you are going to get the body you want and nothing will stop you. On those mornings where you stayed up late the night before and don’t feel like going to the gym you have to push yourself, when your buddies are having wings and pizza during the game you know not to pig out. I think once you make the decision to ultimately be healthy, nothing will stop you!
That said, I have a little catching up to do, and judging by Ellens last post its not as much as I thought!! I’m comin for ya!!!
Till Next Time

I haven’t gotten to the gym in the past few days which has something to do with the fact that I just moved into my new house.
However, I have gotten a lot of exercise - hauling boxes up and down stairs, unloading my stuff and turbo cleaning (3 hours scrubbing my patio and furniture yesterday).
I miss the cardio, but at least I’m still moving (and not pigging out too badly).

I saw Ellen the other day and she really looks good!!! Just as I thought, she has a slight lead over me right now, but don’t count the young lad out! I can see 1st hand now how sticking to a routine and a diet really does produce results. The mental lapse I had during those couple weeks where I was injured is a thing of the past. I’m committed, I’m back at the gym going all out, and 95% of the food that goes into my mouth will be healthy. A pic of me and Ellen taken Thursday will be posted soon. I have some catching up to do, but after seeing Ellens progression…I’ll up her chances of winning to 4%
Till Next Time!

I was up early ate breakfast about 2 hours before I usually do. I wonder if this is why I’ve been hungry than usual today.
I’m going to have a nice healthy snack now before I get too ravenous and reach for the wrong thing!
See you tomorrow, Matt! I’ll be the one whose stretching you’ll be finding distracting!

I’ll admit after my latest knee injury I was a bit demoralized. I cheated a bit more with my diet and I was mentally out of it as being not nearly as active for a while just took its toll. HOWEVER….the pain has mostly gone away and I’m getting that fire back. I’m ready to pick up right where I left off. Ellen may have a slight lead on me in these mid-rounds, but just like a boxer I’m resilient and will score the late round KO!
As a happy morning person already….my new goal is to be the 1st one at the gym each morning. That means 5 AM on weekdays and 7 on the weekends. If I can stick to it and combine an early morning workout along with an afternoon swim and nightime basketball game even a couple nights a week, and of course stick to a healthy diet…rapid transformation is coming!!! Beware Ellen….I’m baaaaaaaaack!!!
